SENSITY SYSTEMS ADDS TO SMART CITIES “DREAM TEAM”

Sensity Systems Inc., provider of leading Internet of Things (IoT) solutions for Smart Cities, today announced two leadership appointments and the addition of four advisors to its Advisory Board. Sensity’s new Chief Technology Officer (CTO) is Geoff Arnold, an industry veteran in distributed systems and cloud computing, while Tahir H. Khan has been appointed as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). The new Sensity Advisory board members are James Gosling, known as the ‘father’ of the Java programming language, Ed Davis, the former Police Commissioner of Boston, the Honorable Steve Goldsmith, former Mayor of Indianapolis, and Gabe Klein, previously Commissioner of the Chicago Department of Transportation.

Gosling, Davis, Goldsmith and Klein join Sensity’s other Advisory Board Members, including the Honorable Richard A. (Dick) Gephardt, former House Minority Leader, the Honorable Tom Ridge, the former Secretary of Homeland Security, Marcia L. Hale, the former White House Director of Intergovernmental Affairs, Heather Zichal, the former Deputy Assistant to the President for Energy and Climate Change, and Privacy Advisors Peter Swire, the former Privacy Advisor to President Clinton, and Richard Purcell, the former Chief Information and Security Officer for Microsoft®.

Sensity has expanded its world-wide footprint in recent months. It now has 42 Smart City installations across the globe, and has completed hardware certification in over 40 countries. In May, Sensity entered into an agreement to form a joint venture with the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) to deliver smart city solutions for China. Sensity also acquired Eutecus, a Budapest-based company specializing in computer vision and updated its NetSense Platform.

James Gosling is credited with a long list of innovations in software engineering, but he is best known as the inventor of the Java programming language in 1991. For this achievement he was elected to the United States National Academy of Engineering. He is currently Chief Software Architect for Liquid Robotics®, where he works on autonomous ocean-going robots.Edward (Ed) Davis has been in law enforcement for 35 years. He served as the 40th Police Commissioner of the City of Boston from December 2006 until October 2013. Davis was Boston’s lead police official during the tragic Marathon bombing, and testified before Congress about the bombing and lessons learned. He has been recognized for his efforts locally and nationally, including through the Police Executive Research Forum, the International Association of Chiefs of Police and the Major Cities Chiefs Association.

Stephen (Steve) Goldsmith is the former mayor of Indianapolis and served as the Deputy Mayor of New York City for Operations. He is currently the Daniel Paul Professor of Government, Director of Innovations in Government Program, and Director of Data-Smart City Solutions at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.Gabe Klein is an entrepreneur, author, investor and former government official. He was Commissioner of the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) from May 2011 to December 2013. Klein was also the Director of the District of Columbia Department of Transportation (DDOT) from 2008 to 2010. He recently authored a book titled “Start-Up City: Inspiring Private and Public Entrepreneurship, Getting Projects Done, and Having Fun” published by Island Press.

Sensity’s Chief Technology Officer, Geoff Arnold, has over 35 years of experience in distributed systems and cloud computing, working for such companies as Sun Microsystems®, Raytheon®, Huawei®, Cisco® and Amazon®. “Sensity has assembled an outstanding advisory board,” said Arnold, “and their experience will be critical to our success in this exciting new area of Smart Cities. I’m particularly pleased to welcome my former colleague James Gosling to Sensity, where he will lead our Technical Advisory activities. Sensity’s new Chief Information Security Officer is Tahir H. Khan, who was previously CISO for ETS® Corporation, a large financial services company. “I’m delighted to have joined Sensity and to be able to work with such a strong Advisory Board,” added Khan. “My role here is to build a solid security strategy for the company’s hardware, software and cloud initiatives to ensure information assets and technologies are protected and Sensity’s leadership and advisors are central to this.”
